Product Description

The VermiHut Plus worm bin converts the kitchen food waste into organic compost full of nutrients for your garden. The VermiHut Plus is a step-up version of the internationally well-known VermiHut worm bin. It’s easy to use! Just fill a tray with worm bedding, red worms and food scraps. As the worms finish composting, they will migrate upward into the tray above, leaving rich castings behind. In ideal condition, 2lbs worms can consume 1lb of food scraps per day on average. A 5-tray worm bin can house 10 lbs worms, and can help to reduce 5lbs food scraps per day. The VermiHut Plus provides the perfect capacity for household food waste management. Features: 1.Smallest footprint for the highest composting efficiency; 2.Odorless. The compost worms consume the food before it smells. With a component named “V-Board” built in the lid and a piece of coconut mat, the improved lid design makes it possible to remove the already minimal odor. The VermiHut Plus can be used inside or outside the house. This is an unique design. Other brand names in the worm compost market don’t have this design. 3.Moisture Control. The improved lid design makes it possible for moisture control. The V-board holds the moisture, keeps the environment moist, and provides the worms a comfortable environment. This is an unique design. 5.A component named “worm-saving tray” is built in the system. It prevents worms and compost debris dropping to the liquid tray. It also increases the system airflow for better compost efficiency. This is an unique design. 6.A set of base "shoes" comes with the unit to prevent others coming into the bin. This is an unique design. 7.The liquid collection tray and the base are in one piece to eliminate assembling.

This worm composter setup is compact and unobtrusive enough to be placed in my bathroom. Quality is excellent and set-up was easy. Maintaining the bin takes just a few minutes a couple of times a week. I have had the Vermihut for approximately three months and it is close to being ready to add a new layer so that I can use the casings in the original layer for compost. Customer service has been EXCELLENT!! Any time I have a question, I get an email response back within a few hours. Highly recommend this product!I think this is a nice set up. The only thing I didn’t really like is the gap between each tray on the sides because worms can escape through there but I’m sure I can figure something out. The instructions did recommend adding a light source so the worms will be less likely to escape. It’s also larger than I thought which is great, pics and videos make it look half the size somehow. I think it would be awesome if they added a lock/latch to connect to each tray so if you wanna move the structure, you can do so easily without anything falling over. For the price you’re paying for this, they should also at least provide a coupon for some worms. I really wanted this because I didn’t feel like making my own, but I definitely think it’s overpriced for what it is. I think it should be maybe like $60 honestlyVery sturdy, this should last a long time. The design is great, love that it’s raised up enough to access the spigot for “worm juice”. There were some things in the box that we were unsure of how or where to put them, like a white fabric and a fiber mat. The company is very helpful and accessible, responded almost immediately to any questions we had. Price was very reasonable, especially for the quality of the product. We’ve had it for almost a month and worms seem to be doing well. This arrived in a very neatly arranged compact box and had no trouble taking parts out and putting together. Well made. Nice tools and instructions. The size is just right, where the trays will not get too heavy to maneuver, and I expect it to work very well based on the design. If you are new to worm composting, watch lots of videos from those that have experience.Update after a few months. I am loving the design. No moisture or dryness issues. No gnat or fly issues (knock on wood). No worms are escaping. I would buy again when have enough red wigglers to expand my indoor operation. I have tried other indoor composter systems that are a tray/tower design and this works best so far.Worms seem very happy in it, and makes it easy to rotate trays. As expectedWe ordered and received the Terracotta colored bins. We are really enjoying growing worms to get castings for our garden. Our worms arrived on a Friday and our Vermihut didn't arrive until the following Tuesday so we created a temporary bin, which was probably more bedding and coco coir than we needed for the Vermihut. As good, uneducated beginners we put everything into a single tray and the worms immediately headed upward so we kept the lights on in our unused guest bathroom until they became more settled in. It's been almost a month and with each subsequent feeding the tray continues to grow so we are talking about moving about 1/3 of the bedding and worms into another one and place it just below the feeding tray, maybe offering those residents a smaller feeding than the penthouse. The Vermihut arrived in a solid box and as others have said, it was necessary to work each tray apart. Everything was in the box as expected, including two pieces of netting which I still don't know what it's for. I folded one and placed it over the M board as a few reviews said, but it became a muddy mess as the worms explored all levels of the bin so we removed it.After watching several YouTube videos we decided to follow the example of two Tubers and created a bottom tray of shredded paper/cardboard and some coco coir so it can inoculate as worms move up and down through the different levels. The theory is that once this tray is moved to the top as a feeding tray the bedding will have started to decompose enough to speed up the process of creating castings. We shall see. In the meantime we are hoping the overnight temperatures start climbing so we can move the bin to the back patio and eventually into the greenhouse.I love the simplicity to this. I was stalking the orice and when it lowered I snatched it up.I was happy with the size (there were no measurements in the ad, so I was concerned it would be too big or too small) and sturdiness of the vermi-composter. I have yet to use it, but it looks great. Lots of neat features that other vermi-composters didn't include and were more expensive to boot. The instructions are a little hard to understand, as the English translation is not quite accurate. It's not rocket science though, it was easy enough to figure it out. I was charged duty, which was a surprise, so you'll want to factor that in to the cost. The unit is well made with the stackable trays. The ant protection feet are a great idea. Spout assembly is very good. The worm saver in the bottom works well. Depth of the trays are also very nice. Accessory items are great and useful. Coir mat for flying insects is great idea, and also absorbs condensation. The bottom shape and support legs are excellent and sturdy. The only issue I have is with the lid. It is difficult to bend the plastic tray to insert into the lid, but eventually went in. The little tabs that holds that tray on are not sturdy. They have crease lines where they attach to the lid, so they will possibly break when I have to clean and remove the lid insert. The shape of the lid is probably designed to facilitate evaporation, as there are very small holes drilled in the lid for air circulation. If the lid was flat, it would be of greater use to me, so I could set items on top of the lid for storage. I live in a tiny home, where you have to utilize every inch for storage. The item was listed incorrectly by seller that they made an error with shipping cost. Once I placed order, they cancelled it, and I needed to write to company regarding this. I was contacted, and I did get the item at the price it was posted. Communication with the company was excellent regarding the product. I would buy again if the lid was differently designed, reason for 3 star, otherwise, excellent product.I recently just changed the sheets of brown paper on top, to one single cut out of cardboard, this prevented the worms from getting trapped in between the sheets of paper. They truly do eat half their body weight in a day if they're environmentally happy. I keep coffee grounds from the capsules, and vegetable scraps from supper prep or leftovers in a Tupperware to freeze. Whatever the worms can't handle, gets frozen for later on. No such thing as food waste now. If you rough chop your leftovers they will make quick work of it. Especially bananas!Donne un bon rendement avec l'aide des videos sur Youtube
