At United States Penitentiary Alcatraz (1934-1963), prisoners ate off metal trays at meal times in the dining hall. These utilitarian trays, like much of the equipment used in the penitentiary, were government-issued and designed for military use.

I love the design and history associated with this tray. There are cheaper reproductions today, however, none have the material thickness this tray does. A faithful recreation for a good price, the sloped wells make cleaning this a breeze. Practical and a piece of history!
